Have you ever wondered what modal fabric actually is? You see it on clothing labels all the time but what exactly is it? In the lingerie world, it is used mostly for sleepwear, some of our favourite brands offer different PJs styles in Modal.
One of our favourite sleepwear lounge brands is Eberjey, they offer a wonderful collection of pieces made of Tencel which is a blend of Modal and lyocell fibres. Modal is a bio-based fabric that is made by the spinning of beech tree cellulose (wood pulp). Beech trees require zero chemicals and pesticides to grow, the resulting fabrics are both renewable and sustainable. Beech fibres are more eco-friendly than cotton as it requires the less water to grow the raw material, approximately 10-20% less, good news for the environment!!
